Born and based in New York, Alex is an autistic and nonbinary artist known for high contrast artwork that carries political messaging or relates to their own personal narratives. Through their artwork, they invite the viewer to step into a reflective mental space, allowing them to see the world differently as they exit. Alex's use of color and composition choices ground their work in a reality separate from the viewer’s lived experience.
Just two short years after graduating Harrison High School in 2017, they received an award for their piece, “Drown” from Ringwood Manor Gallery during a diverse group show. Since then, Alex's work has been featured in multiple exhibitions, including Rochester Contemporary Art Center’s show, “Queering Democracy: Art, Identity, and Politics in 2024”.
Alex has since shifted his work to include public installations and larger pieces. Alex is currently working to create a newer body of work for an exhibition focused on his familial experiences through large scale paintings of their childhood.
